Hidden Valley Inn

June 2010

Dear Friends,

Well, it has certainly been an eventful start to the summer for us here up at Hidden Valley Inn and we have a lot of interesting news to share!

We have had a myriad of special sightings in the last 3 months. Amongst these we had many sightings of the elusive Solitary Eagle, Ornate Hawk Eagle, Black and White Hawk Eagle, Laughing Falcon and of course the extremely rare Orange Breasted Falcon. With Hidden Valley Inn's property along the edge of the escarpment we are so fortunate to be able to see these raptors with such regularity. Hidden Valley Inn continues to be one of the best places in Belize to see the Orange Breasted Falcon.

We are also looking forward to hosting our annual group of volunteers from the Peregrine Fund. The biologists have already arrived and are ensuring that the hacking sites are ready for Orange Breasted Falcon chicks that are arriving from Boise, Idaho within the next week. The biologists will be here for 3 months monitoring the chicks as they fledge and also noting facts about the behavior and habits of the birds as very little is known about them.

The most exciting sightings we had were four jaguar sightings in April! The picture we have was obtained by two guests on a 1/2 day property tour, thanking our friends from Belgium for being in right place at the right time! We have a facebook page so feel free to peruse our pictures of the jaguar!

We have had many guests who booked the Ruins and Romance package we have on offer for the summer months. The single activity enjoyed the most by the guests who booked this package was the private and romantic Waterfall Honeymoon lunch. This is such a unique activity that we are very proud to offer here, and is available as part of our Ruins and Romance Package which is only U$ 675 pp! Take advantage of this special summer offer and escape the heat of summer by cooling down at Secret Pools and Fall's or Cub's Den!

Also, we have been hosting week long visits by experience yoga professionals who are teaching complimentary yoga classes twice a day. The visits have been so successful that we are now hosting visits from the middle of June 2010 up until the end of July 2010. All of these classes are suitable for beginners and conducted on one of our three beautiful yoga platforms. A recent guest had this to say: "I am really glad that I was here when Regina the yoga instructor was here. She really enhanced my stay. Yokol Chen will remain in my mind during yoga practice from now on". Yokol Chen is the yoga platform closest to the Inn and is thatched and straddles a small year round creek. Have a look at our yoga page for further info, and if you are joining us during the times that an instructor will be here we also have private lessons available for nominal fee.

Hidden Valley Inn is simply a very romantic place for many people who visit and joyfully even the staff can fall in love! We celebrated the March wedding of Rudi and Rosa who fell in love after meeting at Hidden Valley Inn! Combined they have worked eight years at Hidden Valley Inn and we were all very excited to attend their wedding. We wish them many years of happiness and those of you who have met Rudi who is on our Maintenance Team, and those who were served a delicious meal by Rosa in our restaurant wouldn't you agree that they are simply perfect together?

We hope that you have enjoyed this update, and we will have some more news for you in a couple of months!

Thank you for taking the time to read this letter,

Flavien, Beverley and Hidden Valley Inn Team
