Hidden Valley Inn & Reserve has some of the best waterfalls that flow effortlessly and naturally. This location has 7,200 private acres of forest reserve in the Maya Mountains. Our privately owned and secluded attractions in our property are filled with scenic beauty and it is a great place for a tropical holiday.  Here is a list of the most spectacular waterfalls that you can see when staying with us.

Butterfly Falls

Butterfly Falls

One of our most popular waterfalls is the Butterfly Falls which plunges 80 feet from its crest into a crystal-clear pool. When the waterfall was discovered, it was surrounded by the largest butterflies in the world, the Blue Morpho, and thus given that name.  This spectacular hidden gem is accessible by hotel guests only.  It takes approximately 2.5 hours of hiking into the forest from the lobby, but for easier access, guests can request a ride to the nearest car park and follow a short 20-minute hike down a jungle trail to the waterfall.

It feels as though you are lost in paradise as you look up at the rock walls hanging with bromeliads, ferns, and orchids. If you are planning for a proposal or any special moment to be created, this is the perfect place for you.

Secret Falls & Pools

This is one of the most romantic areas in Hidden Valley Inn and Reserve. A 3 hours hike from the Inn will take you to an ideal secluded, well-maintained place for a romantic time.  You can enjoy a picnic by swimming in the crystal water from the waterfall or relax in a hammock under our jungle palapa platform. This is the perfect place for you and your loved one to relax and enjoy each other’s company with minimum distractions.  Celebrate your love with a sparkling bottle of champagne and enjoy the soothing sound of the waterfall.

Tiger Creek Lookout & Falls

Tiger Creek Lookout & Falls

The highest waterfall being 700 feet tall delivers a breath-taking view in our reserve area. It requires a 45-minute hike from the Inn, passing the famous Lake Lolly Folly. The region where you will find this waterfall is also rich in diversity. Hike around the valley from the lookout and take a dip on the top cool shaded pools of this majestic waterfall.

Devils Falls

A 40-minute hike through the tropical broadleaf jungle, via the Clear Creek nature trail, from the Butterfly Falls leads you to this waterfall. These natural swimming holes are accessed by a wooden ladder. Take a refreshing dip after that long hike and enjoy the scenery. If you are planning to come here, make sure to bring your swimsuit.

King Vulture Falls

King Vulture Falls

This falls makes it an ideal location for birdwatchers or wildlife photographers, with a 45-minute hike from the Inn. The surroundings of the waterfall are quite verdant. Before coming here, be sure to have your camera ready. This Fall gets its name from the famous king vulture, the largest and one of the most colorful birds in Central America. They inhabit and are usually seen roosting around the waterfall. If you are lucky enough, you may catch a glimpse of the rare orange-breasted falcon.
